By Hubbub in collaboration with Auckland Live, Colab and Auckland University

Hubbub joined a team of over 50 people from Auckland Live, AUT University's Colab and Auckland University's Department of Physics to create Beambox. This interactive playground is not only an art installation responding to the physics of light but also an educational tool to create a learning experience that is accessible and informative.

The installation presents seven cube characters, each representing a section of the electromagnetic spectrum. The characters have their own sound that is transmitted to the other cubes using LEDs. When another cube receives the signal, it reacts by modulating the incoming signal with it's own sound and playing the result through a speaker mounted on the top surface.

Beambox premiered at Summer In The Square from the 9th till the 20th of December 2015.
